Inkiito Primary School
Location: Keekonyokie West, within the Kajiado West sub-county of Kajiado
Amara started working with this school in 2025.
Established in 1980 by the PCEA Church, the school was built to make basic education accessible to the young Maasai children, whose families' pastoral lifestyle often made regular school attendance a challenge.
The school gets its name, Inkiito, from the area's topography, which is mainly characterized by whetstone, a type of stone used for sharpening knives.
The school has a student population of 230 young learners, with 2 pre-primary classrooms and 7 permanent classrooms for the other grades.
The school has a hot lunch program and parents contribute towards the purchase of the food, fuel and cook’s salary.
Thanks to our donor, Hena Sawjani, Amara has supported them with:
- Construction of a kitchen, storeroom and covered shelter in 2025
- Installed two energy efficient cookers
- Donated stationery and school supplies
