Inkiito Primary School

Location: Kajiado West Sub-County, Keekonyokie West

Amara started working with this school in 2024.

Established in 1980 by the PCEA Church, the school was built to make basic education more accessible to the young Maasai children, whose families' pastoral lifestyle made regular school attendance a challenge.

The school gets its name, Inkiito, from the area's topography, which is characterized by whetstone, a type of stone used for sharpening knives.

The school has a school hot lunch program and parents contribute towards the purchase of the food, fuel and cook’s salary.  The old kitchen was made of iron sheets, and an open fire is used to prepare lunch, posing significant health and safety risks. Not all parents are able to support the lunch program and the school needed help to make this sustainable.
